Oshiro Continues to Impress with GOLD

Monday, February 13, 2023

Two weekends in a row Bobbi Oshiro shines on the court.

APP's Ken Herrmann with Pro Mixed gold medalists.

APP's all stars Parris Todd and Hunter Johnson lost in the gold medal match to Bobbi Oshiro and Brendon Long. Oshiro and Long defeated Todd and Johnson in the semi-finals of the main draw of APP Daytona 11-9, 6-11, 11-4. They met again in the gold medal match and lost 5-11, 10-12 however Oshiro and Long proved too good and closed the deal to win gold,15-6.

Also this weekend at APP Daytona, Long and Oshiro won bronze with their partners in pro men's and women's doubles respectively.

Oshiro and Long have partnered a few times together, most recently in the PPA Hertz Championship in December. They took out top seeds Lucy Kovalova and Matt Wright 11-8, 6-11, 11-9. Bobbi Oshiro has some one of the best finesse skills in the game. She is a player that gets almost everything back as well as having some major fire power when she chooses. Her shorter stature doesn't help her but she makes up for it in reaction, instinct and skill.

This is two weekends in a row Oshiro has made newsworthy waves. Last weekend she teamed up with Sarah Ansboury for the first time and they were able to get some big wins against Lucy Kovalova and Callie Smith as well as also defeating Jorja Johnson and Andrea Koop.

We'd say both of Oshiro's partnerships are worth continuing based on results alone. Ansboury and Oshiro are both known for being defensive walls and will have the most trouble against teams that bring the fire power. They've shown that consistent, steady teams aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Long is a very underrated men's player that when has the right partner can do a lot of damage. We definitely want to see her partnership with Brendon Long continue as their ceiling is very high and a lot is still to come from these two.

Lastly, if you don't know this Joola Pickleball sponsored player, she is one of the nicest girls on tour and it's nice to see people like her succeed and do well.
